Welcome to 2016! Have you made any New Year’s Resolutions yet?
No? No worries. Neither have I.
New Year’s resolutions have a reputation for lasting about ten minutes into the New Year. I do know people who make New Year’s resolutions and stick with them, which really impresses me. I’m not so disciplined, myself. I am way too easily distracted or overwhelmed with huge challenges and New Year’s Resolutions always feel like one more obligation on my never-ending List of Things To Do.
So this year, as we start down the new path that is 2016, I am suggesting a completely different sort of list; a list of things I DON’T want to do, things I want to get rid of, things that I no longer need to keep around, cluttering up my life.
I call this list:
10 New Year’s Non Resolutions
1. I won’t spend so much time on-line or in front of the television that I forget to go outside and look up at the stars. Really, go outside and look. The stars are amazing!
5. I won’t take myself too seriously. If I’m not willing to laugh at myself, I’m sure there is someone out there who would be happy to do so for me.
10. I won’t blame anything – or anyone – else for my lack of progress or success.
The New Year is all about fresh starts and new beginnings, so remember that you are the only one in charge of your future, and make 2016 into your best year ever! Feel free to use this list of New Year’s Non Resolutions, or come up with some of your own.
